Slightly warped; head socket cracked
Performance characteristics: Range D⁴ - A⁶ (sounding B♭⁴ - F⁷). Plays well throughout range on natural scale (fingered D major) but some other notes not available or speak with very poor intonation.
Usable pitch: Sounding A⁴ c 464 Hz.
General usage of type: The instrument is built to look like a fife, and was probably used as such, but unlike a true fife it is conical and the finger holes vary in size. |
