DescriptionTechnical description: Possibly African blackwood with german silver keys. There are german silver ferrules at the top of the instrument, at the socket of the middle section and at each end of the bell. The ferrule at the bottom of the bell extends across the bass of an inward flange. None of the sockets is lined. There is one vent hole in the bell. There is an onion shaped baluster at the top of the instrument. The L1 PP has a screw adjuster for the degree of opening of the plate. All the keys are levers except the rings and the PP, these also have needle springs while other springs are flat. The rings are cut from a metal sheet, they are curved to fit the contour of the instrument. Depressing the C♯ key presses the low C key. The R4 keys are positioned with the E♭ to the right of the C and C♯ keys, the C♯ key is below the C key. L0: 8.1; B♭ dup. L1: PP; 8.2. L2: T. L3: TT; C alt. L4: G♯; E♭ alt; F alt; low B. R0: sup. R1: T; B♭; C. R2: R. R3: R; F. R4: low C; E♭; C♯. Key head type: cup Key mount type: pillars attached to plates which are screwed to the instrument, 3 screws per plate with the exception of the guide for the lever of the B♭ key which has only two. The L1 PP is mounted on conventional modern-style pillars screwed directly into the wood. Stamped on all three sections: crown motif / "H.F. MEYER / HANNOVER". Repair History: The L1 perforated plate and the associated mechanism is probably a modern addition. |
