DescriptionMilitary model bass drum. Metal (probably copper) barrel-shaped shell made in two parts, soldered together with circumferential join at centre of the shell. 10 screw thread tensioners onto wooden counter-hoops fitted with brass square nuts. Oval carrying harness eye mounted on plate of diameter 50mm, at centre top of shell. 20-inch heads.
Decoration: Painted on front with blank shield surmounted by crown and surrounded by roses. Counter-hoops painted in diagonal stripes, sequence black / white / red / white / green / white / red / white. Insides of hoops painted with green wavy lines on white background. |
