Bore: at c 20mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 10.8; descending slide, 10.8; ascending slide, 10.8; m.t.s. bore, 10.8 - 13.5; at c 315mm from bell end, 15.3; at 24.5mm from bell end, 65.5. B = 0.74. Bell cutoff = 1300 Hz. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 11.3 - 10.9. Inscribed on bell "EXCELSIOR / CLASS / HAWKES & SON / Denman Street / Piccadilly Circus / LONDON"; on mouthpipe "HAWKES & SON / LONDON"; inscribed on back of bell near rim "12395". Decorative features: Embellished bow guards and stay mounts. Usable pitch: Plays at A⁴ = 440 Hz with mouthpiece (2825); may have been made for use at Old Philharmonic pitch with a small mouthpiece.
