DescriptionTechnical description: Brass with german silver ferrules and bow guards; plated stockings. Ligature fitting at joint. No tuning-slide; possibility of tuning at joint; sprung slide buffers. Telescopic stay on outer slide. No water-key.

Bore: at c 40mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 11.8; expanding by 100mm from mouthpiece receiver to bore c 12.3; descending slide, 12.4; ascending slide, 13.6; joint, 13.6, stepping up at c 70mm from end to c 14.5.
Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 13.3 - 12.5.
Inscribed on bell "Fritz Horst / ALTONA".
Decorative features: Snake embellishments at slide bow and main bow; combing on ferrules.
Usable pitch: Plays at A⁴ = 440 Hz using spring buffers, with mouthpiece (676). Possibly built for A⁴ = 437.5 Hz. |
