Technical description: Wooden shell and hoops, rod tensioning with twelve T-bar handles on each side. Nickel-plated fittings. Trap door in shell with sprung hinge. Repair History: Break in one counter-hoop has been repaired with glue.
General usage of type: Typical, orchestral bass drum. Specific usage history: Used orchestrally by the University of Edinburgh at the Reid Concert Hall until the late 1980s. Evidence of possible dance band use with hole drilled in side of trap door for electric bulb wire.
