DescriptionTechnical description: The round, concave, brazilwood stick has a brown leather (?) or synthetic (?) grip and black leather (?) or synthetic (?) lapping, and ends in a modern head with a white plastic (?) headface and ebony (?) or black plastic headface lining. The screw-mechanism, rounded, ebony frog has mother-of-pearl decorative eyes set towards the heel (13.9mm from the heel), a mother-of-pearl slide, a metal ferrule with a wooden ferrule wedge, and a nickel underslide. The seam in the ferrule is along the base of the finger side. The button is nickel over ebony and is octagonal with a rim. Measurements: Weight: 79g. Hair length: 603mm. Balance point: 268mm. Head height: 28.0mm. Head width: 11.85mm. Face length: 28.6mm. Tip diameter: 8.1mm. Frog diameter: 10.2mm (measured at 200mm to avoid the lapping). Nipple range: 0.8 to 1.0mm. Period of oscillation: 1.35. Distance from pivot to tail: 80.1mm. Button length: 18.0mm. Ferrule width: 14.6mm. Frog + stick height: 31.4mm. Frog top length: 50.8mm (measured on the finger side). Inscriptions: The underside of the stick is stamped "GERMANY" betwen the button and the frog; the stamp is 1.97mm high and 11.15mm wide. The number "XVII" is carved into the underslide in front of the screw eye. There is a small sliver of ebony off the top of the frog heel. The front edge of the head is scratched.
