DescriptionTechnical description: Stained boxwood with brass crook, bell, ferrules and keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece, crook, upper section, lower section, upturned bell. Original named wooden mouthpiece. Two speaker keys. Plate for L0, L1, L3, and R3. Tone-holes under RH rings lined with brass. Shaped thumb rest. Sling ring. 13 keys, 4 plates, 2 rings. L0: Plate; speaker 1-2. L1: Plate; throat A♮; throat A♭. L2: T. L3: Plate; cross E♭₄/B♭₅. L4: C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅. R1: T; side F₄/C₆; side E♭₄/B♭₅. R2: T + spectacle. R3: Plate + spectacle (forked B♭₃/F♮₅); cross B♭₃/F♮₅. R4: G♯₃/E♭₅; F₃/C₅. Keyhead type: salt spoon. Keymount type: screwed in pillars. Playing accessories: reed, original ligature and reed-cap. Dents in bell. Restored 1999 by Mark Withers for use. L4 keys were missing, now replaced. The mouthpiece is a replacement. |
