Description3 valves. Technical description: Silver-plated brass. Windway runs mouthpipe - m.t.s. - 1 - 2 - 3 - bell. Fitting for music card-holder. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves; middle piston with `straight-through' windway. Overall size: 719; bell 323. Sounding length: minimum 3939. Bore: mouthpipe at c 50mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 11.0; m.t.s. at c 355mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 14.4; centre of valve cluster at c 729mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (1,2,3) 14.4; 1970mm from bell end, c 20.5; c 1482mm from bell end, 29.0. B = 0.46. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 13.0 - 12.5. Inscribed on bell : Salvation Army emblem with "THE SALVATION ARMY" within banner underneath; on side of valve casings "7", "8", "9". 3rd valve tuning slide - 3rd valve knuckle unsoldered. Ends of 3rd valve tuning slide and main tuning slide cracked. General usage of type: Small model, possibly made for a boy's band. Usable pitch: Plays above A4 = 440 Hz, but would require very small mouthpiece to play at Old Philharmonic pitch. Performance characteristics: Good response. |
