DescriptionThis ivory instrument is in two sections, each stamped “CASTEL”, with seven finger-holes and a thumb-hole. The mouthpiece is worn, with tooth marks. In its present condition it is usable at A4 = c 415 Hz Technical description: Ivory; 2 sections; wooden block; narrow, curved windway; 7 finger-holes plus thumb-hole; finger-holes almost all the same diameter. Baroque fingering. Repair History: The cut-up has possibly been made deeper. Usable pitch: In present condition, sounding A⁴ = c 415 Hz (c 100 cents below A⁴ = 440 Hz). |
