DescriptionTechnical description: Silver-plated brass. Screwed bell lock at joint; lock ring for inner slides. Water-key. Counterweight on stay of m.t.s. Chromium-plated slides with stockings. According to the firm's archives [instruments books], the instrument was model 1134A, made in a batch of three hundred and forty. Overall size: 1172; bell 196. Bore: at c 30mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 10.6; descending slide, 12.3; ascending slide, 12.3; m.t.s. bore, 13.9 - 18.5. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.1 - 11.3. Inscribed on bell "50 MEDALS OF HONOUR" within banner / monogram FB / "Besson / 8-10" / five-pointed star / "LONDON-PARIS-NEW YORK / MADE IN ENGLAND"; stamped on side of bell "LP / 256276". Usable pitch: A⁴ = 440 Hz. |
