Keyhead type: original keys, flat round; additions, saltspoon. Stamped on upper section "STREITWOLF" / five-pointed star; stamped on lower section "STREITWOLF / GÖTTINGEN" / five-pointed star; stamped on bell with five-pointed star / "STREITWOLF" / five-pointed star. Cracked barrel; bell ring missing; mouthpiece tip bent. Repair History: May have started as a 12 key clarinet; the A, A♭, B♭ and G♯ keys have been modified or repaired at one stage, and at a still later date the second C keys and alternative touchpieces B♭ and spectacle have been added. The F, spectacle and G♯ key-holes have cut seating, so these are probably not original. The B tone-hole has been very neatly plugged, but the hole is clear on the inside. Wooden thumb rest probably added. Specific literature references: Young 1993, No. 3. Illustration references: Restle and Fricke 2004, item 38. |
