Technical description: 2 coils; copper with brass mounts; mouthpiece attached by chain.
Inscribed on rim of bell "No 5 BATTERY E.V.A." and stamped on side of bell "T. GLEN / 2 & 3 NO. BANK ST. / EDINBURGH" within ellipse.
Usable pitch: Plays at A4 = c 440 Hz.
Lent with, probably formerly used with and attached by chain to mouthpiece (1730).
Specific usage history: Formerly used by the Edinburgh Volunteer Artillery (designation used 1859 c 1890). |
