DescriptionTechnical description: Mid-brown wood, varnished; 2 sections; ivory-bushed thumb-hole; wooden block; broad flat windway; 7 finger-holes plus thumb-hole; large finger-holes for R2, R3 and R4; cork-lapped tenon with additional twine lapping; very small vent-hole pierced in back of instrument, 23mm above base of foot. English fingering. Performance characteristics: Built in imitation of a Renaissance recorder, the instrument plays with English fingering although there is a marked difference in pitch between alternative fingerings for both middle register B♭ and C♯. Usable pitch: Sounding A⁴ = c 444 Hz (c 15 cents above 440 Hz). |
