DescriptionTechnical description: Blackwood with german silver ferrules and keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, bell. Zig-zag speaker with chimney on the left side of the instrument. Upper section originally featured with 2 rings, but now converted for a player lacking 2nd finger of left hand: two plates for L3 (D₄/A₅; C₄/G₅ activated by cross key), shorter C♯₄/G♯₅ key with alternative touchpiece for R1. R1 tone-hole lined with german silver. 14 keys, 3 rings, 1 plate, 5 ebonite rollers. L0: T; speaker. L1: T + ring + vent; throat A♮; throat A♭. L3: plate; cross C₄/G₅. L4: Cross E♭₄/B♭₅; C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅. R1: T; side F₄/C₆; side E♭₄/B♭₅; side trill key for throat A-B♮ and B♭-C; alternative lever for C♯₄/G♯₅. R2: T + spectacle. R3: T + spectacle (forked B♭₃/F♮₅); cross B♭₃/F♮₅. R4: G♯₃/E♭₅; F₃/C₅. Keymount type: screwed in pillars, some with push pins, later additions with screws. Keyhead type: modern. Barrel cracked, upper ferrule missing. Bell cracked. Mouthpiece missing. |
