DescriptionTechnical description: Brass; plated stockings. Usual British G bass trombone, but with tuning at joint with ligature fixing; no tuning-slide. Single coil crook (wreath) for insertion at joint between slide and bell sections for putting instrument into F. Black wooden handle, ridged grip.

Inscribed on bell "SUPERIOR / CLASS / HAWKES & SON / Denman Street / Piccadilly Circus / LONDON"; at back of bell near rim "9812"; on inner slide near mouthpiece receiver "HAWKES / & SON / LONDON". Scratched on bell "196".
Playing accessories: F crook; the crook bore insufficient to fit well onto slide section. Stitched leather collar guard.
