DescriptionCircular bass.
Technical description: Brass. Water-key. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, bottom-sprung; alignment by key on piston. Repair History: One bottom valve cap a replacement. New main tuning-slide made by A.K.F. Wilson 1982. Mouthpipe has a tuning bit soldered in, probably not an original feature.
Overall size: 1184; coil diameter 770 approx; bell 386.
Bore: v.t.s. (1,2,3) all stuck but same as m.t.s. 15.8.
Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 13.1 - 12.3.
Inscribed on bell "1ST / CLASS / RIVIÈRE & HAWKES / 28 / Leicester Square / LONDON".
Alignment keys on valve pistons worn.
Usable pitch: In present state, plays at A4 = 440 Hz.
Purchased by lender with mouthpiece (1794).
