DescriptionTechnical description: The round, concave, pernambuco (?) stick has a dark, red-brown varnish, has gold, blue and white thread winding, and ends in a modern head with an ivory (?) headface. The screw-mechanism, squared, ebony frog has mother-of-pearl decorative eyes and a mother-of-pearl slide. The underslide, ferrule and heelplate are metal (nickel?). The ebony button with nickel (?) rings has a mother-of-pearl button eye and is octagonal with a rim.
Measurements: Weight: 56g. Hair length: 635mm. Balance point: 258.5mm. Head height: 23.9mm. Head width: 9.65mm. Face length: 23.3mm. Tip diameter: 6.2mm. Frog diameter: 8.4mm (measured 150mm from the end to avoid the winding). Nipple range: 1.2 to 1.5mm. Period of oscillation: 1.36. Distance from pivot to tail: 70.75mm. Button length: 16.7mm. Ferrule width: 13.15mm. Frog + stick height: 27.1mm. Frog top length: 42.5mm.
Inscriptions: The Roman numeral "XXIII" is scratched into the underslide.
General usage of type: Trade bow.
Associated by pre-1969 labelling and probably given with violin (326) and bow (327).
