Technical description: Integral three Stölzel valve orchestral horn. Instrument is unusual in having marks of three makers who were unassociated in trade, viz. Raoux, Gautrot and Sax. The layout of the instrument suggests that it was the last of these that was the maker. Tuning-slides suggest primary use with F crook. The large bell diameter and bore and lack of garland are reminiscent of non-French instruments of this date. Metal construction: yellow brass; gusseted bell, no garland; all tubing seamed. With French pattern F crook. Valve type: 3 Stölzel valves, top sprung. Valves in triangular format, 2 being placed approximately 7mm in front of 1 and 3. Valves have metal passages. Repair History: Crook damaged and repaired. Valves partially repaired by J. Webb, 1986-87.
