DescriptionThis African blackwood instrument has keys that are probably silver-plated and the reed well and sockets are also lined with metal. It is stamped on all 3 sections “F.LORéE” / five-pointed star / “PARIS”. It is tuned to ‘Old Philharmonic Pitch’ (A’ = 453 Hz).
Although it has a few leaks and the mechanism is a little sluggish, the instrument is generally in very good condition. Using a smaller reed than would be used for a modern oboe, the instrument has a clear, bright tome quality with excellent attack and intonation. It is accompanied by a fitted leather case with reeds and accessories
