DescriptionTechnical description: Boxwood with ivory ferrules and bell-rim and brass keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece, upper section with barrel, middle section with three finger-holes for the left hand, lower section, and bell. Mouthpiece dark wood, long tenon, short table, grooved for cord, cut square at tip (this seems to be original, not an alteration), not stamped. Barrel slightly waisted. Upper section: all blocks pinned for extra strength. speaker liner projects about one-third way into bore. Lower section: bascule blocks pinned. Levers for L4, tone-hole and key for R4 mounted in a bell-shaped swelling. Bell has a wide rim. Tone-holes under keys lined with brass (Wood's patent 1800). L0: T; speaker. L1: T; throat A♮. L2: T.
