Blaikley's patent water reservoir; with fitting for music card holder. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, bottom sprung; alignment by key on piston. Serial number: instrument 35821; valves 31812. According to the firm's archives [instruments books], the instrument was made "Eb Tenor Orpheon compg" by Jacob in a batch of 1. Overall size: 510; bell 176. Sounding length: minimum 1970. Bore: mouthpipe at c 55mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 10.9; centre of valve cluster at c 217mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (1,2,3) 11.8; m.t.s. at c 320mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 12.3; m.t.s. at c 497mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 13.3; at 985mm from bell end, c 15.9; at c 562mm from bell end, 22.5. B = 0.57. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.4 11.6. Stamped on bell "CLASS. A" / "TRADEMARK" and "BOOSEY" within trumpet and banner trademark / "PATENT / COMPENSATING PISTONS / BOOSEY & Co. / MAKERS / 295 REGENT STt / LONDON / 35821" and engraved on bell "ORPHEON / TENOR / Eb"; on valve top caps and side of valve casings stamped "16", "17", "18"; on side of 2nd valve casing "TRADEMARK"and "BOOSEY" within trumpet and banner trademark / "31812" and "PATENT"; on valve bottom caps "PATENT" and "16", "17", "18". Purchased by lender with and probably used by previous owner with tenor horn mouthpiece (4504).
