DescriptionTechnical description: Rosewood with german silver ferrules and keywork. Four pieces: Ebonite mouthpiece, barrel, one-piece body, bell. No thumb-hole for L0, key operating vent and rings instead (Carte's patent). Alternate fingering of throat A for L3 ring and throat A♭ for L3 and R1 rings especially for trilling (Child's patent). 13 keys, 6 rings.
L0: Speaker; F♯₄/C♯₆ key.
L1: T + ring + vent; throat A♮.
L2: T + ring corresponding with ring 1 and 4; throat A♭.
L3: T + ring corresponding with vent for throat A♮; cross E♭₄/B♭₅.
L4: C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅.
R1: T + ring + correspondence with vent for throat A♭ when ring 3 is pressed; side F₄/C₆; side trill key for throat A-B♮ and B♭-C.
R2: T + spectacle.
R3: T + spectacle (forked B♭₃/F♮₅); cross B♭₃/F♮₅.
R4: G♯₃/E♭₅; F₃/C₅.
Keymount type: pillars.
Keyhead type: shallow spoons.
