DescriptionTechnical description: The concave, round, ironwood (?) stick ends in a Cramer head with a T- mortise. The open, thick-waisted hourglass, ivory frog has a screw mechanism and the bone-over-ebony button is octagonal with a rim.
Measurements: Weight: 54g. Hair length: 624.5mm. Balance point: 275mm. Head height: 25.0mm. Head width: 10.5mm. Face length: 30.2mm. Tip diameter: 6.25mm. Frog diameter: 8.8mm. Nipple range: 1.0 to 1.45mm. Period of oscillation: 1.35. Distance from pivot to tail: 66.9mm. Button length: 15.1mm. Ferrule width: 11.05mm (see faults). Frog + stick height: 28.55mm. Frog top length: 43.35mm.
Repair History: The button does not match the frog and is probably a replacement.
Inscriptions: The stick is stamped "DODD" over the frog on the thumb side; the stick stamp is 2.20mm high and 11.30mm wide. The first "D" leans to the right, the second leans to the left, and the third is straight. The frog is also stamped "DODD", near the bottom edge, upside down on the finger side. The frog stamp is 2.00mm high and 11.45mm wide. The last part of the first "D" and the "O" are faint.
The stick has some small scratches and small dents on its head. The button is cracked. Part of the frog's edge (bottom, hair end) is missing and as a result the ferrule width was measured just above this point. The frog is cracked at the back of its mortise, on the thumb side and near the top. On the frog there are scratches near the ferrule and a scratch on the finger side.
