DescriptionTechnical description: Silver-plated brass; inner slides chrome-plated with stockings; slide lock; water-key. According to the firm's archives [instruments books], the instrument was model 1717, made in a batch of fifty. Overall size: 1175; bell 181. Bore: at c 28mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 10.7; expanding by 100mm from mouthpiece receiver to bore c 11.2; descending slide, 12.3; ascending slide, 12.3; m.t.s. bore 13.9 - 18.5. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 11.9 - 11.1. Inscribed on bell "REGENT / MADE BY / Boosey & Hawkes Ltd / London / MADE IN ENGLAND"; on underside of bell adjacent to last stay "LP. / 219816". Playing accessories: lyre music card holder to clamp on mouthpiece receiver ferrule, length c 215mm. With original fitted hard case, covered in beige leathercloth; maker's trademark inside lid, embossed brass plate with "BOOSEY / and / HAWKES" superimposed on globe representing the world, from which streams a ribbon with a musical note.
