DescriptionTechnical description: Almost certainly modelled on the 1518 cornettino belonging to Anthony Baines (now x501 in the Bate Collection, University of Oxford). Wood, gently curved, with black-stained calfskin covering; silver mounts at each end and between L3 and R1 finger-holes. The first 145mm has a lozenge faceted exterior, the remainder is of octagonal exterior cross-section. The L0 thumb-hole has a brass bush.
