DescriptionTechnical description: Wooden body, diameter 45 mm, depth 112 mm; wooden neck and two hexagonal pegs; snakeskin covering as sound-table secured to body with fabric tape which has a floral pattern; 2 silk strings. Surviving string is broken; noose missing. Bow: Bamboo, curved at one end, with silk string. Length: 528 mm. Specific literature references: Probably to be identified with one of item 485 'Four Chinese fiddles' in Engel 1872; probably to be identified one of the 'Three 'Tay Woocum' (China)' in Hipkins 1885, p.117. |
