DescriptionTechnical description: Brass; turned over bell rim with brass garland, width 18; dummy tubing from mouthpipe to bell tubing close to foot of 3rd valve. With shank for B♭, single-coil crooks for A, A♭, G and F, double-coil crooks for E♭ and D; B♮ is obtained without any shank or crook; with alternative tuning-slide having own mouthpipe for high C; with straight coupler for E-natural and coiled coupler for D♭. The receivers on the instrument and the A♭ and F crooks are wide and receive a cornopean mouthpiece; the receivers on the crooks for E♭ and D and the tuning-slide for high C are narrow and receive a cornet mouthpiece. With hook for R4. Valve type: 3 Stölzel valves, springs in capsules, alignment by flat-sided stems; capsules positioned by screws going through valve casings. The first valve lowers one semitone, the second valve two semitones, not interchageable; The 3rd valve tuning-slide is looped. Repair History: The clapper key and its mount have been removed and the hole patched. A B♭ shank for a cornet mouthpiece has been added; there is also a straight tube with tapered fittings possibly intended to serve as a shank for A. |
