DescriptionTechnical description: A brass crook leads to a tuning-slide section; the proxmial leg of the tuning-slide has a double wall: the crook is inserted into the interior wall, one leg of the U-shaped slide is inserted between the walls. Three wooden sections (wing, butt and long) of European sycamore (acer pseudoplatanus) with a brass mount at the upper end of each and a brass mount at the bottom of the but with a base plate attached by four screws. Six finger-holes, three on wing (for L1, L2, L3) and three on butt (for R1, R2, R3), all venting the descending bore except the hole for R3 which vents the ascending bore; three brass keys (for L4, R4 and L0) one on each wooden section. Brass bell section with friction fit into long section. With ring for sling on butt mount. Keymount type: pillars mounted on brass plates. Keyhead type: almost flat, but slightly curved to follow the wood surface. Repair History: Restoration to playing order by Jean-François Picard after 2014; the polychrome bell cleaned by Pascale Gardin (restauratrice, Institut de Restauration et de Récherches Archaeologiques et Paléométallurgiques, Compiègne) prior to 2020. |
