DescriptionTechnical description: Wooden body, diameter 75 mm, depth 96 mm, with concave sides and simple cut-out pattern on base; covered with snakeskin sound-table; 4 silk strings; 4 hexagonal pegs inserted through the back of the neck. Repair history: strings replaced and cracks in body consolidated by Dr Jonathan Santa Maria Bouquet, 2016. Bow: Technical description: Flattened S-shaped bamboo bow; strung with horse-hair. Overall length: 689 mm. Illustration references: Hipkins and Gibb 1888, plate XLVI, described as 'Hu=ch'in & bow'. |
