DescriptionTechnical description: Tube resonator, diameter 72mm, depth 100mm, with slightly concave sides; wooden fretless neck, body and pegs, with simple cut-out pattern across base of body; snakeskin covering as sound-board; 2 silk strings. Bridge missing; neck loose; strings broken. Description of bow (associated only by imeediate provenance): Flattened S-shaped bamboo bow; strung with horse-hair. Specific literature references: Probably to be identified with one of item 485 'Four Chinese fiddles' in Engel 1872; Probably to be identified with the 'Ee Woocum' (China' in Hipkins 1885, p. 117. |
