DescriptionThis banjo is a string instrument with a thin membrane stretched over a frame to form a resonator. The membrane is fashioned out of animal skin and is fastened to the frame by a series of brass bracket hooks. The membrane has a small tear near the bottom. The neck is fretless and hosts seven strings. The neck is 422mm from nut to heel. Three of the strings are metallic. The width of the neck is 42mm at the top and 55.9mm at the base. It shows some signs of repair: a portion of detached wood has been reattached with glue. There are six wooden tuning pegs on the headstock. |
