Earliest Library Donations Book (1667-1755)

This volume records donations to the Library - of money, books, objects and works of art - have helped keep the collections growing ever since the foundation of the University. William Henderson, one of the greatest University librarians, started this first register of donations in the 17th century and it ran from 1667 until 1755, including some great treasures. The page displayed here mentions books donated in 1667 by Isobel Mitchell - the first recorded such gift by a woman.
