In this short interview, Sam Kelly (b.1944) who was born in Kirkcudbright and grew up in a house on the High Street, recalls some of the artists who made Greengate and Kirkcudbright their home. Short anecdotes are shared, such as his memory of Tim and Mary Jeffs participating in a dance, possibly a highland fling, at the end of a car treasure hunt that was held as part of the town’s 1953 quincentenary celebrations. He also recalled the fun of visiting their home at Halloween. He also recalls memories of Jack Hastings and Tommy Lochhead, who both had active spiritual lives.
