This interview forms part of the Kirkcudbright Artists Remembered project. This project was active during the refurbishment of the Kirkcudbright Town hall into the Kirkcudbright Galleries centre and was undertaken as a partnership between the Kirkcudbright Harbour Cottage Trust and the EERC.
In this short interview, Niall C McGill Duncan (aged 83) talks about is father’s decision to rent ground from Mrs Murray-Usher in order to erect a hut on Carrick shore in 1937. Carrick shore was popular with some of the Kirkcudbright artists and Niall’s father, who was a painter and was already friendly with artists such as Tim Jeffs and Charles Oppenheimer, established a family holiday home there which continues to this day. Due to concerns about the recording device, this recording was stopped after only 7m21s.
