Interview summary | Biographical interview with Alison Laurie about her life in Lochmaben. This short interview is mainly about Alison's time at primary school. She recalls going to the old primary school and then moving to the new primary when she was in her second year at the school. The move from one to the other was done over a weekend with parents and teachers working together. Alison notes that the main difference was that in the new school, everything was in one building and it was much warmer. She also remembered that prayers were said before lunch in the old school but she thought this didn't continue after the move. Alison and the fieldworker discuss playground games, punishment, lessons and the change over time in the wider Lochmaben community. |
