Interview summary | Short biographical interview with Pam Walker (b. 1955) who has spent most of her life in Dumfries (especially Lochside) and who now lives in Collin. Pam talks about her schooldays, recalling that she was always in the top 3 at primary but found secondary school very tough. She was put into a lower class when she joined secondary school and didn't remember learning much at all. She does recall that there was a room in the school fitted out as the interior of a house where the girls spend time learning home skills. She left school at 15 and had various jobs before she married and started her family. Jobs thereafter were those that fitted round her husband's working hours. Pam moved to Collin 13 years ago following back surgery. She talks about the challenges of disability and how happy she is now to be part of the Collin community. She talks about the social club and the choir and chats about holidays, especially those to visit her sister in Canada. |
