Biographical interview with Dan McKie (b. 1941) who was born in Hampshire and moved to Scotland when he was five, to stay with his granny after his father was demobbed from the RAF. He has lived in Dumfries and Collin since then. At the beginning of the interview, Dan talks about his early life. Thereafter, this interview is mainly concerned with Dan's working life as a lorry driver. His experience spans a time of great change in transport and Dan can remember, for instance, the difficulties of transporting fragile goods around a pre-motorway road system. Towards the end of the interview, the focus is more on the domestic sphere and Dan, and his wife, talk about the family home, holidays, transport, family and participation in community groups such as the Community Council and the Breath Easy group.
