Biographical history | Mike Duguid was born in Torphins, Aberdeenshire. He received an RAF commission in 1969 and served for 37 years as an Engineer Officer across the UK, USA and the Falkland Islands. After retirement he completed a Liberal Arts degree in Scottish Studies at the Glasgow University Crichton Campus in Dumfries where one of the topics covered was the Ethnology of Scotland. Of that time, Mike said: Of his work with the Project and making fieldwork recordings, Mike reflected that participating had given him valuable insight into his own community and the artists who had made Kirkcudbright their home in the earlier 20th century.
