Biographical history	Robert McQuistan is a retired secondary school teacher who was brought up in Creetown and has spent most of his life in this area. His interests include the Scots language, local history and local place-names, and the Scottish Enlightenment. He runs the local history group and is closely involved with church work and giving talks to local charities. Of his time as a volunteer fieldworker, Robert said: I enjoyed interviewing local inhabitants and learning about their life stories especially from those who were fluent in Scots. New arrivals to the area also had their own perspective on local life and brought to the recordings a fresh insight. … Some moving and fascinating stories were shared by participants and it was a privilege to play a small part in the preservation of such memories.
