DescriptionThe oldest book written in German on measurement and quantity ratios. It was published by Albrecht Dürer in Nuremberg in 1525 and dedicated to his friend, and advisor to Emperor Maximilian, the Renaissance humanist Willibald Pirckheimer. It is illustrated with several of Dürer’s engravings, reproducing the author’s ideas on proportions and depicting some aids and tools for helping artists to master complicated spatial images.
