Description | Three quarter length portrait of Baillie, seated and turned at an angle toward our right while his gaze meets us head on. The elbows rest on the arms of an 18th century chair while the right hand is clasped within the left. The sitter is placed against a blue and red curtain. He wears Court dress as Chaplain to the Queen of Scotland with the star and ribbon of the Companion of Honour and a row of medals. The portrait is executed in a meticulous and detailed manner. |
