Sounding length: minimum 5469. Bore: mouthpipe at c 80mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) c 13.4; centre of valve cluster at c 312mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (1,2,3) 16.8; m.t.s. at c 842mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 20.7; m.t.s. at c 1125mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 25.9; 2735mm from bell end, c 48.7; c 1727mm from bell end, 68.9. B = 0.33. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 15.1 - 14.4. Inscribed on back of bell near rim "No. 14451 / Adolphe Sax Brevete a Paris. / Fteur. de la Mson. Milre. de l'Empereur." and monogram AS containing partially obscured letters, possibly "PARIS"; on side of bell (upside down) with crown motif / "3ME. VRS." / five pointed star / "1866 / 16"; on valve top and bottom caps "1", "2", "3"; on side of 1st valve casing "1" and partially obliterated "3", on 2nd valve "2 / G", on 3rd valve what may be "3" overstamped with "1".
